paddingtonbearinlondon asked: I’m surprised at how much maternity benefits vary from company to company and country to country. How are you planning to cover things like mortgage/rent payments whilst you’re on maternity leave?

Me asked: I am planning to take 3 months off from work but really worried about how I’m going to make ends meet when my workplace doesn’t offer vacation time or anything. Is it true that women go on short term disability during maternity leave?
Thanks!!
(I was just reading that in most European countries and Canada you get a YEAR paid maternity leave and free medical. It’s not fair!!!)

Rose asked: I am due September 17th and I am planning on working till about two weeks or a week before. And I was going to take maternity leave through Dec. and come back in mid-January. My husband has a full time job so money will wont be an issue during that time. Is that too long of a maternity leave? How long did you take?

Lilly asked: I used to love my job, but I just had my baby in June, and I feel awful going back to work (I have two more weeks of maternity leave left). My mom will be taking care of my baby boy while I am at work, so at least I don’t need to worry about leaving him with a stranger. Unfortunatelly, staying at home longer is not an option for me. I feel guilty, sad, and I cry every day. How can I make it easier both for my baby and for myself?
