what is the navy rate that deals with dolphins?
cl_mentiny asked:
i heard that the navy does research on dolphin for sonar and stuff, and that dolphins are used to guard ships against enemy divers…not too sure about that one…but anyway, i was wondering what the rate was, and if there is a degree required to do it or anything like that

The military usually contracts that type of research out to Universities who do animal behavioral studies.

There’s no such rate. That’s stuff that’s done by civilian scientists employed by universities working on government contracts.

The Navy Divers (ND) have an assignment for the mammals (dolphins). You’ll have to go through dive school and be among the top of your class so you have a better chance of getting your assignment of choice. And in case you don’t already know, Divers are Spec-Ops. That means schooling is no joke, VERY tough to be among the top. But don’t let the idea of it being hard discourage you, if you really want to go for it, start doing PT, get accepted to dive school and go for it.

there is no rating that does just that, although the field you are talking about does exist. it’s just that most of the people involved are civilians.
