I'd use the outs on the Delta, though. The pre-amp just goes in line between the mic and the box when you use a mic. You don't need it if you're using line level things, like say a keyboard or drum machine. You can use it to warm up the tone a little, but you don't have to. See if you can google a customer service/tech support number for M-Audio. Most music gear companies have decent support to make sure you get the gear running properly.
