How do pregnant movie stars always have their hair colored when I keep hearing it is bad for the baby?
insf02 asked:
What secret do they have or product do they use to keep the hair color they want while they are also pregnant? Especially which product covers resistent grays and is safe while pregnant?

There is no sufficient evidence to support claims that hair coloring poses any risk to the fetus. What CAN be potentially harmful to both mother and child is inhaling the chemical fumes from hair dye. BUT getting one’s hair professionally colored takes care of that problem (which is what most celebrities do). Think about it: your closed-in bathroom at home versus an open-aired salon.
Ultimately, you can still color at home as long as you are in a well-ventilated area and your doctor has given you the “OK!” Your obstetrician might even be able to recommend certain products that are toxin-free, making the process that much safer.

They probably opt for highlighting or partial hair colouring so the dye is not touching their skin. This means the chemicals found in hair dye will be only absorbed through the hair shaft and not through the skin as the dye doesn’t come into contact with the scalp. So, any process - such as highlighting will reduce exposure to the chemicals found in the dye. Therefore I don’t think the Movie Stars use any secret products although there are plenty of non chemical and vegetable based dye’s widely available now if women can’t put up with the grey hair any longer……and who can blame them.
Pregnant women want to look and feel at their best and I have over the years coloured many pregnant woman’s hair, with no problems arising. But I always suggest they wait until after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as after this time the risk of the chemicals harming the baby is much lower.
