Will I get maternity leave if I start a new job?
Bellegirl asked: I’m currently 4 months pregnant. My current job is stressfull. I can find a new job that gives insurance, but what about doctor’s appt and maternity leave? Since I won’t be at that job for 1 year what will I get.

depends on the job, most disability insurances (who usually is the one who pays) wont approve a claim for someone who has worked less than 6 months prior to going out on leave, also the employer is not required by law (FMLA) to maintain your job or one of the same pay and seniority if you have less than 1 year with them.

You have to find out that company’s policy. You could most likely get maternity leave, but probably not maternity pay. Some companies have trouble hiring pregnant women because they don’t want to train you and then leave and not come back for any reason, it is a waste of their time and resources.
If you begin interviewing, make sure you ask about their policy and tell them your plans for when the baby gets here, reassure them that you will be back in (such and such) time frame and what your daycare plans are… that way they know that you have everything set up and they can count on you.
