How do I know which size of maternity jeans to buy online?
bullheaded asked:
Some of the more pricey brands are sized by waist size like 29 or 30 inch waist. Do you buy them by your pre-pregnancy waist size since they have the stretchy thing in them? Like my pre-pregnancy waist is 31 inches, so do I buy a size 31 maternity jean?
Thanks alot!

Yes, every store I have shopped at for maternity clothes, I have purchased them for my pre-pregnancy size. If you look on their ’size chart’ they should explain their specific procedure.

Yes, you typically buy the same size in maternity clothes you wore pre-pregnancy. Before pregnancy, I wore a 2 or 4 petite. I’ve bought most of my maternity clothes from Motherhood Maternity, and a size small has fit me the whole time.
The only thing that has changed for me is that my maternity jeans with the small under the belly elastic band are not comfortable on my stomach anymore (I’m 36 weeks along), even though they still fit everywhere else. The oh-so-sexy full-belly coverage pants are more comfy (for me) in late pregnancy.

Most sites tell you to go by your pre-pregnancy size. Also, they often have those tables that tell you which size measures how many inches (helpful, since companies like GAP use vanity sizes - I fit in 2-4 at GAP, but 6-8 at other stores).

Hi there, Read the descriptions on line and follow it. Some of the less large sites like mine (http://www.bumpfashion.com) will go into specific detail on sizing. For example, on my site if you were to order Paige, I would recommend a size 32. If you were buying the Maternal America I would recommend a size large. You can always call the store and work it out because they are used to sizing the customers who come in. A women just called me and wanted a pair of paige, I sent her two sizes, and both worked out fine.
Good luck!
